The title of this blog, “Transfiguration Today,” has a dual meaning. First, it indicates that I intend to offer a daily update, and I hope that you will check back each day. The second meaning concerns the pace of the ongoing spiritual transfiguration that Jesus Christ intends for each of us. Yes, God has done great things for us in the past, and yes, we hope that He will also bring His graces in the future. But how about today? Is the Lord capable of doing something in our lives today, in the present moment? It might be something very simple, very quiet. But this is the typical way we are transfigured in Christ: one step at a time, one day at a time.

As that old hymn cries out to God, “Transform us as you, transfigured, stood apart on Tabor’s height. Lead us up our sacred mountains, search us with revealing light. Lift us from where we have fallen, full of questions, filled with fright.”
