Grief Support

Transfiguration Grief Ministry
Our GriefShare program, a grief support group, meets Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m., in the Church Conference Room. For more information, contact Barb Schmitz, 651-501-2220, bschmitz@transfigurationmn.org.

We have three goals for this ministry:

  1. To have a member of our Grief Ministry keep in touch with any individual or family in the Parish who has lost a loved one. We will also offer referrals to ongoing grief support groups in the area, such as “Growing through Loss,” the twice-yearly, six-week series for adults in Roseville, sponsored by the Twin Cities’ North Suburban Grief Support Coalition.
  2. To celebrate the “Month’s Mind,” the ancient custom in England and elsewhere of commemorating the loss of a loved one with a Memorial Mass one month after their death. This is an important pastoral time, when, after a few weeks, the world around us has gone back to business-as-usual, leaving the bereaved feeling the sting of loss perhaps even more painfully than in the first days of mourning.
  3. To bring together at Mass on November 2 – “All Souls’ Day” — the families and loved ones of all who have been buried from Transfiguration Parish during the previous twelve months. This is a sad yet moving occasion, a time to remind one another that we, and our loved ones, have not been forgotten.
