Liturgy

Looking for a new way to get involved in Parish Life? We have a wonderful team of volunteers who assist with each Mass. We are looking for more committed ministers for our four Sunday Liturgies! Mass Coordinators, Sacristans, Lectors, Servers, Hospitality Ministers, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Cantors, and Accompanists are needed. Also, if you have been a part of Liturgical Ministries in the past and need to update your volunteer information (add, change, or remove), please contact Gretchen so that our upcoming schedule is up-to-date at 651-501-2224 or gsonnen@transfigurationmn.org

Hospitality Ministers
Transfiguration takes great pride in offering a warm sense of hospitality. The more than 50 men, women, boys and girls who greet friends and visitors alike as we enter and take leave of this holy place ‘set the stage’ for all that follows. Though hospitality ministers handle money and bulletins, raffle tickets and car keys, it is, in actuality, a ‘people’ job. The basic requirements are a warm handshake and a genuine smile.

Servers and Sacristans
Servers and Sacristans are responsible for preparing the table for worship and assisting the priest or deacon with vessels, books, incense or any of the multitude of items we use at worship. The ministry of server is open to boys and girls fifth grade and older. Training is provided.

The ministry of sacristan is for adults and includes careful tracking of the number of communicants at each mass to insure that “all will be fed”. They also serve as Eucharistic ministers when we need an extra hand. In addition, many assist at funerals.

Lectors
The lector is, in essence, the voice of God. He or she is charged with the task of proclaiming with dignity and reverence the sacred scripture. Initial training and a yearly update are provided for all lectors.

Eucharistic Ministry
The Eucharistic Minister is charged with the task of sharing the “Body of Christ” at Mass. It is a three-year commitment. Individuals are asked to commit to a Mass time and then are scheduled to serve every third week. Basic requirements: you must be 16 years of age, confirmed, and a practicing Catholic.

Church Environment
Hanging banners, watering plants, swaying poles, making vestments, calligraphy, cleaning the church, carrying candles – there are a multitude of opportunities to share your gifts and become involved.

Music Ministry
Transfiguration has a wonderful music ministry program focused on leading the congregation in beautiful, liturgically-minded, prayerful music.

In addition to gifted cantors and accompanists we have a fantastic choir that sings every other weekend at the 10:30am Mass. A second choir focuses on ministering during Funeral Liturgies.
